TRAINING

The SAT-Team syllabus is an almost infinite interlocking skill combination. Using SIA standards as a platform we incorporate professional procedures that are multifunctional and compatible to the commercial-sectors activities.

Improvised Explosive Device - Disposal

Training of duties and responsibilities of the explosive technical team include training in the render-safe or removal of suspected improvised explosive devices, incendiary devices, explosives, explosive chemicals or pyrotechnics suspect to be explosive or incendiary in construction.

The render safe procedure (RSP) is the portion of the improvised explosive devices disposal procedures involving the application of special explosives to provide the interruption of functions or separation of essential components and to prevent an unacceptable detonation.

Improvised Explosive training starts by ensure the student can identify all significant bomb or IED hazards that may be present within his area of operations, that the threat from IED’s can be assessed, and that suitable barriers and recovery measures, are put in place to reduce the threat or risk to acceptable levels.

To do his job correctly we teach a clear understanding of what he is looking for, what pre-planning is required, how to undertake a risk or threat evaluation (using risk matrix and risk evaluation procedure). At the end of his training he will have a full knowledge of terrorist devices from simple petrol bombs to sophisticated mortars and remote controlled roadside IEDs, he will be an expert in highly sophisticated boobytraps, featuring anti handling devices such as a mercury tilt switch or microswitches that would detonate the bomb if it was moved in any way.

The explosive expert is a specialist that can use SHEMP planning to prevent or reduce the risk of an explosive device being planted. The expert can advise management on safety procedures and safety policies. He is a life saver.
